Kevin Nightingale, President, Cedar Grove Estates Citizens' Association
Cedar Grove Estates was Established more than 11 years ago with substandard road infras-tructurethat has become the bane of every resident's experience. For years, the citizens' association has fought with the localauthorities andlobbied successive governments for intervention with regard to our roads, but to no avail.
The Portmore Municipal Council has advised that the scheme was not properly handed over to them by the developer, hence their inability or lack of will to assist us with the repair of the roads. Our hopes were raised withatour of the community by the current water and housing minister, Horace Chang, and a delegation of government technocrats and local governmentofficials in 2008.

But despite being told that a contract was on the desk ofTransport and Works Minister Mike Henry for signing, the long-awaited road repairs are yet to happen.
Just this HeroesDay, residents of Mars Avenue and a section of Poinciana Avenue embarked on fund-raising barbecue to raise funds to effect some minor upgrading work on Mars Avenue. On your visit, please note the donated loads of marl that were already delivered to the area. This has been the type of piecemeal effort that the residents and citizens' association of this community have had to resort to over the years in trying to alleviate the inconvenience of bad roads in most areas of the scheme.
When you look at Poinciana, Saturn, Mars, Belmore, Guango and Hibiscus avenues, Cherry Close and Mews, Ransford Close and Clarence Close, you will see the deplorable state of the roads that threaten to forever stifle development in this relatively newly established middle-class community.
