Jamaicans must shun Halloween, orgy of evil

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I have nothing against anyone making money, and partying is a good way to do it. However, investing in Halloween is not a good thing for Jamaica or Jamaicans.

Halloween is a satanic event, originating from the celebration of All Saints Day, the night before being called 'All Hallows Eve', which was corrupted and shortened to 'Hallow-een'.

There is a lot of money to be made and jobs to be had from the celebration of Halloween. There is the costume industry making clothing, masks, artificial bloody body parts, house decorations, plastic skeletons, giant creepy insects and the formal parties, some people literally dressed to kill.

It is largely a celebration of death, and the elements connected with dying, killing, corpses coming out of graves, ghouls, vampires or bloodsuckers, and things that can scare you to death. Halloween is a culture of death. Some people try to water it down for children by allowing them to dress up as fairies and superheroes when they're little, but as they grow older, they decide what they'll be.

When we examine our rate of heinous, murderous crimes, isn't Halloween practically occurring every day? Now we know that sensible people can participate in a costume party and not be maniacs who kill, but how do we know that the imitation of something doesn't inspire others to become what they see being imitated?

In the name of 'tolerance', most people will not do anything to counteract the rising trend of Halloween celebrations in Jamaica, but will quietly hide out and wait it out. Godly people will turn to the scriptures for advice. Although Halloween did not originate in America, it is mostly an American phenomenon today.

For the most part, people who say they are believers in God are sucked into these practices by the devil himself. They are so innocent.

The scriptures tell us that we have an adversary who is the Devil, the Dragon, the Serpent of Old, the great deceiver - Satan. The Devil's modus operandi is to steal, kill and destroy. In other words, it starts off innocently as just a fun party, then, over time, progresses to things much worse.
