Big guns dominate Intercol netball

DEFENDING Senior Intercollegiate Netball champions, the University of West Indies (UWI) 'A', Mico University College 'A' and G.C. Foster College 'A' are unbeaten after two weeks of competition in the new looked Intercollegiate Upper Level Netball League.

The Conrad Parkes-coached UWI team, which is led by national players Nadine Bryan and Malysha Kelly, have picked up two big wins to lead Group Two action. In their opening match of the season, while playing away, they humbled Bethlehem Moravian College 69-6 then picked up their next win last Saturday at home with another big 63-9 win over Exed Community College.

Led by national player Kimone Tulloch, Mico University College have looked awesome in Group One, where they have raked up four wins in a row. After starting their season at home with a decisive 69-21 win over G.C. Foster College 'B' team, the Annette Daley-coached team has been on a roll since. Other wins so far for Mico are 54-19 over Shortwood Teachers' College; 46-6 over Sam Sharpe Teachers' College and, in their latest match on Saturday, they brushed aside Shortwood Teachers' College in the return match 59-10.

G.C. FOSTER IMPRESSIVE

Also being impressive so far is the C. Lloyd Walker-coached G.C. Foster College 'A' team, who are ruling the roost in Group Three, with two commanding wins to lead. They started their season at home with an easy 57-35 win over the UWI 'B' team, then came back last Saturday to humiliate Moneague Teachers' College 65-6.

Results of other matches played so far in the Upper Level Open League are Portmore Community College 38, Bethlehem Moravian College 28; Mico 'B' 58, Exed 10; UWI 'B' 46, Moneague Community College 20; Portmore Community College 40, Exed 14; Caribbean Maritime Institute 25, Moneague Community College 23; University of Technology 37, G.C. Foster College 'B' 21; UWI 'B' 45, Caribbean Maritime Institute 16; Mico 'B' 22, Portmore Community College 20; Sam Sharpe Teachers' College 23, G.C. Foster College 'B' 22.

The competition will continue tomorrow with two matches, as Mico University College will be seeking to make it five wins in a row when they host the University of Technology at 4 p.m., while in the other game, Exed Community College will be at home to Bethlehem Moravian College.
