The unseeded Jamaican pair of Charles Pyne and Gareth Henry won the men's doubles event in the Santo Domingo Open Badminton tournament, which was held in the Dominican Republic last weekend.

Pyne and Henry defeated number-three seeds François Bourrett and Kevin Li 19-21, 21-6, 21-12 in the final.

This result should see their doubles world ranking of 234 improve considerably when the results are updated later this week.

Earlier, in singles action, Pyne, who is currently ranked 126 in the world, made the round of 16 in the men's event, while Henry, who has a world ranking of 237, made it to the men's singles quarter-finals.

The two players will now move on to the Puerto Rico International, which starts on Friday, November 4, in San Juan, as they continue their quest to qualify for next year's London Olympics.
