St Hugh's, Queen's head qualifiers for second round

Defending senior and junior league champions, St Hugh's High and The Queen's School, respectively, lead the list of qualifying teams for the second round of the Digicel ISSA Corporate Area netball competition, which will get under way tomorrow at the Leila Robinson courts.

After being unbeaten in preliminary-round action, St Hugh's came out on top in Group E to qualify ahead of Excelsior High. Other senior league qualifers are Tarrant and St Jago High (Group A), Camperdown and St Andrew Technical High School (Group B), St Catherine High and Bridgeport (Group C), St Andrew High and Wolmer's Girls (Group D), while The Queen's School and Meadowbrook are the qualifiers from Group F.

Scare

Defending junior champion Queen's, who are also the defending all-island champions, got a scare from Holy Childhood High in the prelimanary round where they came out with a one-point win in Group F ahead of Holy Childhood.

Other junior qualifiers are: Group A - Norman Manley, St Jago High; Group B - Camperdown, Clan Carthy; Group C - St Catherine, Ardenne; Group D - Mona, Campion; Group E - St Hugh's and Vauxhall.

There will be six matches in both junior and senior action when the second round starts tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. In the senior league, St Hugh's will take on former champions Wolmer's, St Andrew Technical play St Catherine High, Meadowbrook take on St Andrew High, St Jago will battle Camperdown, Bridgeport will take on Queen's, and Excelsior will engage Tarrant.

Defending champions Queen's will start their campaign against Ardenne in junior action. The other matches are Holy Childhood versus Mona, St Jago oppose Camperdown, Clan Carthy play St Catherine, St Hugh's battle Campion College, and Vauxhall pitted against Norman Manley.
