Action switches to Breeders' Cup

The action in international racing switches to Louisville, Kentucky in the United States this weekend, with the annual showcase, the rich and prestigious Breeders' Cup meet at Churchill Downs.

The two-day meet actually commences today with the US$2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies taking the spotlight. Heading the field is the Cash Asmussen-trained MY MISS AURELIA, who is unbeaten in three starts.

One of four unbeaten fillies in a field of 14, MY MISS AURELIA is the 5-2 ante-post favourite.

However, the real focus is on the rich and prestigious Breeders' Cup Classic over 10 furlongs on Saturday, in which UNCLE MO could start a firm favourite. Drawn at post position 12, the classy three-year-old colt is trained by Todd Pletcher for owner Mike Repole.

Pletcher will also saddle STAY THIRSTY, who has worked well for the race, along with the Irish raider SO YOU THINK, HAVRE DE GRACE, ICE BOX and PRAYER FOR RELIEF.

Meanwhile, today's English racing cards will embrace Hexam, Fontwell and Wolverhampton in the evening. There is also simulcast racing from Belmont Park in New York and Monmouth Park.

Today at Hexam in the 14th race (chase) over three miles and one furlong, LIVELY BARON (7-4) with Brian Harding slated to ride, should improve on his recent fourth-place finish by leading home his eight opponents.
