Yearling sale

The Super Weekend of racing climaxes today with the annual TOBA Yearling Sale in the official car park at Caymanas Park, starting at 9 a.m.
As many as 217 lots are being offered and indications are that last year's record price of $3 million, paid for a chestnut filly by Royal Minister out of Miss Chestnut, will be erased.
The record-price filly, who is a half sister to the 2010 Triple Crown winner and 'Horse of the Year' MARK MY WORD, is yet to race. She is being conditioned by Howard Jaghai.
As usual, a significant number of buyers from the Eastern Caribbean are here to participate in the sale. Last year, they purchased nearly 40 of the 180 yearlings sold. That sale achieved a record $119.6 million, with 32 of the yearlings sold for $1 million and over.
