IAAF anti-doping lawyer for conference

The International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) has added another speaker to the roster of presenters billed for the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Anti-Doping Conference, next Saturday, November 26.
The world-governing body for track and field's Medical and Anti-Doping Department is sponsoring Thomas Capdevielle, a qualified lawyer on its team. Neville 'Teddy' McCook, IAAF executive, who has responsibility for the Caribbean, was instrumental in getting Capdevielle to participate in the event, which is being staged for the second year.
The IAAF anti-doping lawyer joins a top-level panel of international and local speakers, who will address coaches, athletes, local attorneys, students and doctors at the Faculty of Law Main Lecture Theatre venue. He brings "up-to-date and valuable information on the current IAAF anti-doping programme managed by the Medical and Anti-Doping Department," said the organisation.
"Thomas (Capdevielle) is particularly involved in the test results management and is familiar with all anti-doping rules/regulations matters," says the IAAF.
The anti-doping lawyer will arrive here on November 25, from Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Excited by what she described as a major accomplishment, Dr Rachael Irving, chair of the planning committee, commented that "IAAF's support for Jamaica and the conference has been tremendous".
Other speakers booked to address delegates at the event include Dr Caroline Hatton, sports anti-doping science consultant and former associate director of the University of California, Los Angeles Olympic Lab; Dr Aggrey Irons, president of the Medical Association of Jamaica; Dr Akshai Mansingh, director, Division of Sports Medicine, UWI; Dr Joy Callendar, nutrition specialist, and Dr Alicia Kendig, USA Olympic Committee performance nutritionist.
The event is being sponsored by GraceKennedy, which is using its sports ambassador, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the National Commercial Bank, The Wyndham Kingston, MegaMart and Victoria Mutual.
