Tantalising Taste of Tryall

WESTERN BUREAU:
Sixty chefs and several delectable dishes, offering a wide range of tantalising and mouth-watering meals, were the eye-feasting fare that greeted guests at the third annual 'Taste of Tryall' last Friday night in Hanover.
Taste of Tryall, now a staple on western Jamaica's social calendar, transformed the seaside at the 18-hole championship golf resort, Tryall Club, into a kaleidoscope of food stations, complemented by an exciting live auction that boasted an exquisite Bucherer ladies diamond watch, one of the largest Jonathan Routh original paintings of the Club, and one week vacation at the exclusive Sun Valley Ski Lodge in the United States. But, as fabulous as the auction prizes were, it was the tasty, scrumptious and yummy meals prepared with some sort of competitive edge and seasoned with love by the chefs from the various Tryall villas that highlighted the 2011 event.
Cooking for education and health care for the children in their community, everything from the Mediterranean salad, to the triple melon soup by Captain's Choice, to the black bean hummus with breadfruit chips appetiser and the marinated rock fish, the chefs this year literally outdid themselves. Zion Hill's Bodo de Camaroes (Shrimp in breadfruit sauce), Trinity's chicken piccata, Anticipation's coffee jerk pork and Harmony Hill's callaloo wrap lamb balls were among the dishes most sought after at the event.
Whetted with the rum that states it is 'well above the rank of captain', Appleton Estate Special, and paired with Betco's premium liqueur Alize, Penfold's Shiraz Cabernet and Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon, there was no one at 'Taste' that could argue that Louis Pasteur's statement, "A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world", was not true.
