SKOPJE, (AP):

Police in Macedonia have arrested 87 people accused of issuing €2 million ($2.7 million) in fake highway toll receipts, mostly to foreign travelers during the peak summer season.

Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska said yesterday that 92 suspects had been identified, 88 of them toll operator employees.

The arrests were made after police raids in the capital Skopje and six other towns. The suspects, all in police custody, are facing fraud and forgery charges.

Macedonia borders European Union members Greece and Bulgaria, as well as Albania, Kosovo and Serbia.
