LIVERPOOL, England (AP):
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during this week's League Cup quarter-final win over Chelsea.
The Brazilian national team player was injured during a seemingly innocuous challenge in Tuesday's 2-0 victory. He played on for a couple of minutes before collapsing and getting carried off on a stretcher.
Liverpool says a scan showed Lucas needs surgery.
