Santa Charity Golf today

The Seeing A Need, Taking Action (SANTA) Charity Golf Tournament will take place at the Constant Spring Golf Club in St Andrew today. The tournament, which has attracted more than 150 golfers, plus their families and friends, is in its 11th year.

Today's competition will be in eight categories - five for men, two women and a junior category (age 11 through 18). It is under the direction of seasoned golf administrator David Mais, and the men's and ladies' captains at Constant Spring Golf Club, Tommy Smith and Michelle Gabay.

Tee off times are from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the tournament format remains the same - Stableford 7/8 handicap.

There will be the traditional wide range of top-quality electronic prizes this year, including iPads, iPods and televisions. Prizes will be given for Closest Drive to the Pin and Closest to the Line (one of each for men, women and juniors.) A party and prize-giving ceremony will take place after the golf competition.

Organisers hope to raise more than $1.5 million in donations to be disbursed among five entities which have been earmarked for support. The beneficiaries are: The Wortley Home, Lalyce Gray Basic School in Constant Spring, Peace and Love in Schools (PALS), Laws St Trade Training Centre and Mustard Seed Communities.
