StS Peter and Paul Prep is making preparations to host their annual Christmas Fair, this Saturday, December 10. The family-friendly event will feature various games and attractions to keep parents and children entertained while boosting that Christmas spirit.

This year, the organisers have introduced prepaid tickets that will attract a cost of $2,000. Persons who purchase the prepaid tickets will get 100 passes which will give them access to rides and food for the entire duration of the fair.

Alberta Knight, president of the Home School Association, spoke to The Gleaner on behalf of the organisation committee and according to Knight, the goal is to make less fortunate children feel special.

"We want persons to participate in the event, however if you can't make it just sponsor a child. We have groups that we cater for and persons can purchase tickets on their behalf," she said.

Chosen groups

The groups under the wings of the Sts Peter and Paul Prep are School For The Blind, Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, Kids in Chambers Lane and Sofia's Place.

The Christmas Fair will also feature a Shopper's Lane where parents will get the opportunity to purchase items for their children.

The organisers have made appeals to local athletes and other celebrities to make donations to sponsor a child or group. So far, Jamaican Olympian Jermaine Gonzales has already made a pledge.

"The parents and teachers are working together to make this event a fun success, and we are proud of the collaboration because it a reflection of unity and team work," Knight said.

Corporate sponsors already on board the Christmas fair include KFC, Wysinco, Pizza Hut, Reggae Jammin, among others.

Persons interested in making pledges to any of the designated children group can send confirmation emails to spppvolunteer@gmail.com.

Potential patrons can get tickets at the gate for $300, there will be guest performances by parents and a surprise guest entertainer.

Music will be provided by Coppershot Sound, and children will enjoy interactive attractions such as train ride, balloon art, mechanical bull, face painting, among other activities.
