The second edition of Vibes Is Right saw roots reggae dominating Bull Bay, St Thomas, at Wickie Wackie Beach.

The vintage party, which took place last Saturday night, focused on roots reggae music for its second staging.

The first staging focused on the 'rockers' era in Jamaican music. Hosted by promoters, the Tribal Council, a radiant full moon and bonfires on the beach created the ideal ambience for what was undoubtedly a night to remember. The energetic Lee Tafari kept the crowd entertained, playing strictly vinyl LPs, which had patrons 'skanking' and grooving all night long.

Selections from Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths and Barrington Levy had persons singing along.

'Younger set'

Rory Yaadcore played a slightly 'younger set' with selections from Buju Banton, Sizzla Kalonji and Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley, just to name a few.

Addis Pablo - melodica player and son of the legendary Augustus Pablo - represented well for the next generation of reggae with a brief stint on stage.

Rising star Protoje was in attendance as well as Kabaka Pyramid, who treated patrons to a dubstyle rendition of his single, Ready fi di Road.

With affordable prices at the bar, patrons were soon in a good mood as they rocked the night away.

The second edition of the event received a better turnout and patrons certainly enjoyed the vibe at the beach.

The musical selections were complemented by the decor, which came courtesy of Anubis Communications, culinary delights and complimentary bizzy (kola nut) tea from Bizzy Catering, Tikka's fruit stand and Georgie's exotic Mango and Guava-Grape wines.
