Daydreams 'Tropical Paradise' a hit
Krista Henry, Staff Reporter
With Christmas Day just around the corner, for many patrons Daydreams gave them a nice way to kick off the Christmas season.
Held on Sunday at Hope Gardens, the event saw a good turnout, good music and had a good atmosphere. Held at a new venue for parties at Hope Gardens, patrons were escorted to the party zone by shuttle and welcomed by Smirnoff ladies. The venue was spacious with numerous bars, a food area, which was isolated from the rest of the party and had lots of spots for patrons to find a corner and dance the night away.
When The Gleaner arrived at the venue, Coppershot's DJ Sanjay was having his spin on the wheels of steel. The DJ warmed up the venue with traditional early tunes before turning up the heat with pop music. Songs such as Party Rockers, Fireworks from Katy Perry and more resonated with the sizeable audience. A brief soca segment brought out more dancing from patrons before Jazzy T from Renaissance took control.
Jazzy T slowed down the music with songs from Sizzla, Jah Cure's Unconditional Love, the latter exuding an impromptu singalong. Jazzy T, like his predecessor, picked up the pace later on in his set, this time with some hip hop and dancehall.
Dubbed 'Tropical Paradise', patrons coloured the party, which is usually an all-white affair.
Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Tifa, Stephen McGregor, Natalie Storm, and Raine Seville were just some of the entertainers who made a party of Sunday evening. Producers Romeich and DASECA were also present.
Newcomer DJ Cruise brought some energy to the event, although the music was turned down during his set, much to the dislike of the patrons.
Soon, however, the music was back to normal and persons resumed dancing to songs like Party Shot from Popcaan, Summertime from Vybz Kartel and more. When The Gleaner left close to midnight, the venue was still full.
