WESTERN BUREAU:

From Montego Bay, Jamaica, to London in the United Kingdom (UK), 28-year-old disc jockey Rohan Woolery, who goes by the moniker 'DJ Face', remains hot in demand as he burns up the music tracks.

The disc jock and promoter is unyielding in his love affair with music and says he ensures that patrons have a great time when they attend events where he plays.

"My dad inspired me to become a DJ. He was a music selector himself and I wanted to be just like him," shared DJ Face.

While he enjoys spinning music from all different genres, the London-based selector confessed that his favourite genre to play is reggae and dancehall. This, according to him, is "a part of me and my culture. I grew up on that kind of music so it will always come first. While I am verse in my selections, those genres remain very dear to me. There's no question to that".

DJ Face is balancing being thrust in the spotlight.

"Well, it definitely makes you more popular with the ladies and it also brings some props with artiste and other stuff. So to be honest, there is hardly a dull moment in my line of work," he explained.

Dealing with popularity

"There are times when the popularity gets to be a little too much, but for the most part, I really don't mind at all."

Not many persons may know, but DJ Face played high school football in the daCosta Cup competition for Herbert Morrison Technical High School in Montego Bay, and was even called to serve on Jamaica's Under-17 squad for a brief period.

The young entrepreneur adds that event promotions are another facet that he does in addition to being a disc jock.

"Living in the UK for over 10 years, I have capitalised on booking reggae and dancehall acts for events in the UK. Now I am spearheading the Spring Break event for Jamaica, dubbed 'BritJam' - a holiday party in Jamaica for UK residents and Jamaicans," he said.
