Dehandra Blackwood wins Mini Miss Jamaica crown

DEHANDRA BLACKWOOD recently became Jamaica's 32nd mini queen. Blackwood who wore the sash Miss Dark & Lovely is a 10-year-old student of Wolmer's Preparatory School.

She out-pointed 11 other contestants to cop the coveted title. Her main prizes are a trip to Disney World, the Chalcass Medals & Association Trophy first-place trophy and dinner for two courtesy of the Wyndham Kingston hotel. She also won consolations prizes for being the Most Intelligent (The Pearline Sinclair Memorial Trophy) and Most Eloquent (The Roxanne Foster-Dillow Trophy). She was crowned by last year's winner, Koriann South of Santa Cruz Preparatory.

Jamila Robertson, Miss Synergy Engineering, was the first runner-up. The 10-year-old student of Southborough Primary School, won a north coast weekend, the Chalcass Medals & Association trophy for second place, and the Double Deuce Ja Ltd trophy for being Most Aware. Nia Francis, Miss J'Sin Promotions, was second runner-up and won a day pass, the Chalcass Medals and Association third place trophy and the Best Personality award (a colour photograph).

The fourth-place and fifth-place winners were K'Yana Edwards Miss Jamaica Special Constabulary Co-op Credit Union and Aaliyah Coley Miss Bird's Bakery respectively. Edwards was adjudged Most Talented (the Pearline Sinclair Memorial Trophy) and Coley was adjudged Most Cultural (The Jillian Jo Taylor Trophy).

All contestants received trophies for participation, courtesy of Shell Service Station - Manor Park.
