Need food? A party ticket? Bank transactions, but don't have the time to stand in long lines? Getit Couriers caught on to the trends by providing a service that makes getting things done that much more easy.

The company was started in November of last year by popular promoter P.J. Wright and his business partner Karl Tulloch. It was an idea that was tweaked from the courier model in New York City and adapted to become more integrated in Jamaican life. Wright recently spoke to The Sunday Gleaner about his blossoming business.

"The idea came from seeing the way New York developed with the bike couriers. Jamaica has become much more modernised and people are taking their time more seriously. So Getit Couriers is a service that appeals to young professionals, housewives, college students, the 'everyday Joe', and the big companies. It's a kind of a solution for when you need to get something and can't move to do it at the time, or simply don't have the time to go yourself," explained Wright.

whatever customers need

The office is located at 4 Chelsea Avenue in New Kingston and currently has eight couriers. Open from 9 a.m-11 p.m, Wright says there is nowhere in Kingston and St Andrew that they won't go. According to him, the company mostly transports for businesses at the moment, aiding in the completion of banking transactions and the transport of documents. That area of the business is closely followed by the transportation of food.

They will, however, transport whatever customers need.

Another lucrative angle for Getit Couriers is the easy access to tickets for major events like parties and concerts. Over the Christmas season alone they provided easy access and transportation of tickets to events such as Osmosis, Daydreams, Smudge, Yush, Twisted Spiritz, Illusive, Ciroc X.clusive, and more recently, Shaggy and Friends.

"People have been very receptive to the party tickets idea," Wright said.

"Over the Christmas season we weren't even able to accommodate all of the requests we got. Our delivery charge is only $300 for the tickets, so we found people couldn't bother killing up themselves to get to the outlets before the tickets sold out." One of the major events Getit Couriers will be involved with this year as sponsors and official ticket couriers will be Dream Weekend 2012 .

The new year is looking good for the budding business.

"Our plan is to develop in Kingston till it works to perfection and then to take the business to other places like Ocho Rios, Mandeville, Montego Bay, etc. Getit Couriers is a lifestyle brand. We'll be getting into every section with events, purchasing tickets, Valentine's Day, phone repair companies, clothing companies. We're not your typical couriers," Wright said.
