Sean Paul to enjoy Fiction birthday

Published:Wednesday | January 11, 2012 | 12:00 AM

International recording star Sean Paul has chosen the long-running and popular party series Brand New Machine (BNM) at the Fiction Lounge as the location for his 2012 birthday celebration tonight.

Sean Paul has much to celebrate following a successful 2011 that saw him tour the world, expand his expertise to production, and put the final touches on his fifth studio album.

Still riding on the success of Imperial Blaze and hits like So Fine, Press It Up and Pepperpot, Sean Paul hit the worldwide touring circuit in the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. He made stops in Suriname, Lebanon, Dubai, Germany and Italy in addition to the United States.

In-between tour dates, the dancehall toaster switched positions in the studio to produce the Material rhythm with a host of artistes, including Wayne Marshall, Fambo, Bounty Killer, Cecile, and a virtual who's who of the reggae industry. He also produced a groundbreaking 10-minute medley video, with supporting behind the scenes features, for Material, which was directed by Mikal Chushnie.

To top it off, the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum star put the finishing touches on his fifth studio album, Tomahawk Technique, set to be released by VP/Atlantic next month.

The 12-track album includes the summer smash Got 2 Luv U, featuring Alexis Jordan, club banger She Doesn't Mind and the humorous Wedding Crashers. On this album, Sean Paul also serves up very personal tracks like How Deep Is You Love featuring Destiny's Child alum, Kelly Roland.

What better place?

"What better place to celebrate than in Kingston, Jamaica?" said Sean Paul.

Long-time friend, road manager and party promoter, Steve Wilson of BNM fame, will host the star-studded event.

"Wednesdays are always popping at Fiction, but Sean and his superstar friends will take it to another level," said Wilson.

"In addition to the party, the music and the vibe, the video screens in the club will showcase the Material riddim medley video," he added.

"Fiction is for the famous," noted Kevin Bourke, club manager.

Interestingly, the club celebrated its third anniversary under the theme, Famous, in fine style just last month.
