The Wyndham Kingston Hotel has now turned Sunday into a 'market day'. Last Sunday, a few specially invited guests were summoned to break bread at their new restaurant, Green Market Café. Open daily, its one-of-a-kind Sunday brunch features an à la carte menu with plated and pre-fixed dishes, unlike a traditional buffet brunch.

Task force director of food and beverage at the Wyndham, Jonathan Kastner, explains that the new restaurant will showcase the wonderful products grown in Jamaica and satisfy the need for a restaurant with healthier offerings.

With over 90 per cent of ingredients sourced locally through assistance from the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), the possibilities are endless. You can design your own salad or wrap with a choice of over 60 ingredients, or have your salad as a wrap! You can also opt for one of the fabulous signature salads. From a Greek chicken salad which boasts grilled chicken breast, romaine lettuce, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, kalamanta olives, tomatoes, capers, cucumber, feta cheese and croutons drizzled with red wine vinaigrette to basking in the flavours of a Spa - mixed greens, oven-roasted turkey breast, edamame beans, apples, grapes, celery, beet, toasted almonds, and dried cranberries with fat-free raspberry vinaigrette. Each day you have the option of three different soups.

The four-course brunch menu features some good ole' traditional Jamaican breakfasts. You will find our national dish in the Seven-mile Beach breakfast - ackee and salt fish, fried dumpling, baked bammy and fried plantain. Enjoy some cassava pancakes or go for a Hellshire Beach breakfast - callaloo and saltfish, crushed green plantain and fried Johnny cakes. But there are also other non-traditional Jamaican breakfasts such as bacon Benedict or, how about a shrimp omelette? Where customer satisfaction is paramount, allocations are made for items not on the set brunch menu. But, whatever the choice, rest assured it will be exquisitely delicious. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Green Market Café is a great addition to Sunday's routine.
