Digicel spends its fifth year with the YVAs
Telecommunications giant Digicel is expressing excitement at being one of the sponsors of tonight's Youth View Awards (YVAs).
This is the fifth time the telecoms company is backing the efforts of the YVAs.
"We are always looking for ways to support Jamaican culture and champion creativity and, as such, the YVAs is the perfect partnership for us, as it allows us to champion the voice of Jamaica's youth," said Shelly-Ann Curran, Digicel senior sponsorship and activations manager.
Last year, Digicel brought a new and exciting element to the awards in the form of the Digicel Fashion Police. The feature involved the reward of brand new handsets for those considered to have dressed in a manner that expressed the theme of being young, fresh and hype.
Fashionable
The fashion police are back. Again, they will be roaming the red carpet looking for the most fashionable guys and gals to reward for their efforts.
Also back by popular demand is the YVAs Swag Lounge.
The highlight of the lounge will be the highly anticipated Swag Bags. In addition, YVAs organisers, media and celebrities will have access to 4G broadband through Digicel's Internet station.
"So we are really looking forward to a great event," said Curran.
What is also interesting is the fact that three of the nominees this year - Tifa, I-Octane and Yendi Phillipps - are Digicel's Brand Ambassadors. The three share 11 nominations among them.
Even before that, however, Digicel has been creating waves, especially online.
On Facebook, Digicel had a competition which allowed 100 persons tickets to the event tonight.
There will also be 400 other guests (those fortunate enough to find themselves in the VIP area) who will benefit from Digicel 4G broadband merchandise.
