Pepsi rolls out the 'Blue Carpet'
"Great setting, great vibe, great place for a party." These were the words used to describe the Fiction Lounge by Pepsi's Brand Manager Ayanna Kirton when asked about the venue's selection for the 'Blue Carpet' event.
Pepsi in its own way decided to 'tek ova' the Youth View Awards (YVA) by hosting a nominee party at the nightspot to fête and honour, in true VIP style, the persons nominated for this year's YVA's.
In true Jamaican fashion, the event got off to an extremely late start due to late patron arrival. Slated to begin at 10 p.m., the club started to see a steady flow of patrons at minutes after midnight. Normal club patrons were allowed entry for $1000 to be a part of celebrations. Notable persons in the industry were in attendance such as Ding Dong, Ce'Cile, Tifa, Shady Squad, Bambino, Ryan Mark, Dexter Pottinger, Denyque and others.
No formalities
However, there were no formalities for the night so patrons were fully able to enjoy the musical selections in entirety, both inside and outside the club. A few minutes after midnight and without any warning the fiction dance floor was crowded with dancing patrons. With Zip Jock Liquid spinning the latest and greatest in dancehall and reggae hits he had the patrons eating out of the palm of his hands. The momentum remained even when he switched the genre to R&B.
As if things could not get anymore intense the zj increased the intensity with the hardcore dancehall segment playing songs like Wine by Cham featuring O. The soca segment started at 1:30 a.m., with Wutliss kick-starting the set and had the patrons in soca frenzy, well some patrons anyway. While very few danced a majority of the patrons stood around talking or simply just lyming with each other indicating that it was clearly a dancehall audience in the club. As go dung blared through the speakers you could see a few getting it on on the dance floor.
Apart from the 'Blue Carpet' Event Pepsi will be unveiling its 360 (degree) fashion platform showcasing celeb fashions up close. The persons making their style moments will be chosen and rewarded. The segment will be hosted by former beauty queen Yendi Phillipps and communications consultant Brandon Allwood who will be jetting in from Canada to co-host the event. "It will be streamed live on our Facebook page and aired on TVJ when the award show will be aired," ended Kirton.
