Unlocked luggage broken into
THE EDITOR, Sir:
On returning to Jamaica, December 19, 2011, for Christmas I travelled through the United States of America. It is not permitted to put a lock on any baggage, therefore, my luggage was not locked.
Upon my arrival at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, while waiting to retrieve my luggage, I noticed the carousel was jammed for a long period. There was no one there rearranging the luggage. When I reached my destination and opened my luggage, I noticed that all my toiletries for my personal use were missing. I have reason to believe that this pilferage took place at the Montego Bay airport baggage-handling department.
Mr Editor, I am appalled at the behaviour of these baggage handlers, if indeed one among their number was guilty. How dare someone go through our personal belongings as though he or she owns it? I have never felt so violated in my entire life.
Jamaica is a beautiful place. Let's stop the pilfering so Jamaica can keep its good name to promote its much-loved tourism product.
S. Nicely,
Canada
