South Africa to try Jamaica's tourism model
With Jamaica regarded as one of the leaders in community tourism, a delegation from the South Africa journeyed to the island to learn how our model has acquired its success and apply it to their country's tourism.
The Jamaica Tourist Board, in collaboration Palm View Hotel on Thursday, February 16, hosted approximately 12 professional community tourism specialists from academic, legal, tourism and entrepreneurs, lead by Nikki de Pina, led by partner and consultant and public relations specialist from South Africa.
The Country-style Community Tourism Network of South Africa is seeking to learn about the internationally recognised 'Villages as Businesses' model of community tourism, which highlights the village lifestyle built on unique natural, cultural and human capital.
According to Nikki De Pina, "It is our intention to learn about the successful Jamaican model and to apply it to a South African context. Video clips of the Jamaican study tour will be showcased at South Africa's tourism indaba later this year."
