The Spot warms up with birthday Heat

This year marks the debut of Heat, put on by Olivia Thompson. According to Thompson, the event will be about celebrating life and enjoying good music.
"This event is my birthday celebration, but it will not be the typical birthday party with just regular attributes. It will have good music and vibes will be on the highest level because I am going for a concept of entertainment and elegance," she said. Heat will be hosted at The Spot, UWI Students' Union, on March 22 from 9 p.m. onwards, and will feature DJ Spinn, VJ Richie and DJ Raff.
Thompson believes using young DJs will add to the element of suspense as well as add exclusivity to the event. "These DJs are very competent and have a young following in college circles. Plus, people want fresh faces and fresh selection and this is what we are giving our patrons," she said.
Partygoers will also benefit from incentives such as free pastry upon entry, free jello shots, free Digicel phonecards and two complimentary drinks for VIPs. Entertainers Richie Loops, Aidonia's J.O.P and Ghetto Bomb, among others, are expected to make special appearances.
To feel the Heat at The Spot on March 22, males will be required to pay $550 and females $500, while VIP will cost $800. Tickets are being sold at Salon Splurt and The Spot, both at the Students' Union. Security will be provided by the campus police and there will be a designated parking area.
"Everybody just come out and have some real hype and hot fun. You will not regret doing so, because we are going all out to make it memorable," Thompson said.
