WESTERN BUREAU:

Have you ever been given a buzzer on a visit to Red Lobster in the United States? Well, the buzzer has made its way to Jamaica, arriving in fine style and showcasing its First-World status at the new Jamaica National Financial Services centre in Montego Bay.

The state-of-the-art facility, which was officially unveiled on Wednesday evening to the Montego Bay business community by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, offers a system that allows customers to go shopping at the nearby MegaMart while waiting their turn.

Instead of a number, each customer is given a buzzer on entering the financial centre. That buzzer notifies you when the time has come for service to be rendered.

The centre houses the Jamaica National Building Society, and its subsidiaries, JN Fund Managers Limited and NEM Insurance Company Limited, and is targeted to serve the growing financial requirements of the population in St James and western Jamaica.

Something Extra brings you highlights of the opening ceremony.
