Production levels expected to be high for Sumfest

The producers of Reggae Sumfest are ready and rearing to dazzle the festival's patrons for the 20th staging. As such, there has been a great amount of preparations put in place in keeping with the standard of production in previous years.

Insight into the production aspect of the festival unveils proper representation of the milestone staging as well as the Jamaica 50 celebration.

  • The 64 by 48-foot stage will see a plethora of lights and settings like never before.
  • The production crew promises that this year's staging will provide "something cool" for the supporters.
  • For Dancehall Night there will be one band for the entire show, facilitating a very unique set design.
  • Persons are charged to expect more videos and lights than ever before.

Without divulging too much information, expect many firsts and a lot of unique twists to the show in its entirety. The stage will look different for every night of the show.

Ed Bartlett, the opposition spokesman on tourism is of the view that "Sumfest is definitely a signature product which has been iconic in its own way and has served to emphasise the quality of the music and has indeed established Jamaica as a key centre for enjoying the fullest of reggae's offerings."

With that said, the Sumfest tradition will definitely be enforced.

The 20th staging of Reggae Sumfest will definitely be like no other; not only boasting a line-up with Trey Songz, R. Kelly, Shabba Ranks, Bunny Wailer, Damian Marley, and others, but also a showcasing of Jamaican food and art pieces.

This is the year that should not be missed by music lovers, subscribers to Jamaica's culture and simply, persons who look forward to enjoying a night of utmost quality.

The week of activities kicks off with a Beach Party today. The musical celebration will resume on Thursday, with Dancehall Night.

Reggae Sumfest is sponsored by Digicel, Red Stripe, Iberostar, Jamaica Tourist Board, The Gleaner Company Ltd and Pepsi and takes place at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.
