Virgo delivers powerful performance at Behind The Screen
Like THOSE before him, Romain Virgo did not disappoint the patrons that turned out to Usain Bolt's Tracks and Records lounge to see him perform.
Virgo, who got his break in the music industry by winning the 'Digicel Rising Stars' competition in 2007, delivered hits such as Minimum Wage, Can't Sleep, Live Mi Life and Who Feels It Knows It.
During his set, Virgo told his adoring fans that for him, it was not just music, it was a spiritual moment, it was joy. He then launched into the popular hit single The Rain is Falling, much to the delight of his female fans.
Virgo, who has a powerful voice, has certainly matured over the years. This is evidenced in the type of music he does.
While performing Love Doctor, Virgo began reeling out the digits of a phone number, and had many females scrambling to type the numbers in their phones.
During his one-hour set, Virgo told the audience that his wish for Jamaica is to see a change. One of those changes, which he pointed to as most important, involved the reduction of crime.
He also paid tribute to fellow artistes who were doing their part to spread positive music.
"I love this music. We nuh want nuh water-down Jamaican music. Give thanks to the young artistes who continue to sing positive music. Big up Shane Brown, D-Major, Exco Levi, Chris Martin and, of course, big up mi bredda weh nuh deh ya now - Busy Signal. Make some noise if you love and respect Busy," he asked the audience.
He then launched into Feel Like Letting Go and I Know Better, to thunderous applause.
Virgo ended his set by singing one of his favourite songs, Don't You Remember (a cover of Adele's song from her platinum-selling album, 21) and thanked his fans for their continued support.
