Mignott shines

The youthful and talented Akeem Mignott is creating a buzz in theatre circles as he shines in Jamaica Fifty 2 Rahtid.

It is Mignott's ability to take on multiple distinct characters which leaves audiences talking after each performance.

In Jamaica Fifty 2 Rahtid Mignott takes on roles ranging from youthful teenager and thug to that of an old drunk in a bar. His brilliant delivery of the song Rats and the sincere handling of the soliloquy 'I live in Jamaica' were outstanding.

Mignott began acting in high school where he represented Bridgeport High in the annual Secondary Schools' Drama Festival from 2008 to 2010. He later joined the Jamaica Youth Theatre and has participated in the group's major productions.

Mignott is currently a student of the School of Drama at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

On the commercial stage, Mignott has performed in Aston Cooke's Single Entry and more recently in Dahlia Harris' Back A Yaad.

Brilliant portrayal

Theatre audiences will remember Mignott's brilliant portrayal as 'Mad Dog' in Stafford Ashani's Masqueraders produced by the Edna Manley College in 2011.

Supporting Mignott on stage in Jamaica Fifty 2 Rahtid is a talented cast of fine Jamaican actors, including Deon Silvera, Dahlia Harris, Camille Wilson, Ainsley Whyte and Marlon Campbell. Grub Cooper is in charge of music, Kevin Moore of the National Dance Theatre Company choreographs, while the production is directed by Dahlia Harris.
