DJ hotshots tangle at Club Riddim
Red Bull's International DJ Competition, Red Bull Thre3Style, will be rocking Club Riddim tomorrow night. Six of Jamaica's most highly rated DJs will compete in a one-night intense musical mixology session as they attempt to represent Jamaica at the competition's finals in Chicago, USA. Hosted by Leftside, patrons will be carried on a musical journey by DJ Sanjay, DJ Nar and DJ Naz.
However, this journey is not for the weak-hearted. The DJs participating are among the most highly experienced and well known in Jamaica's club scene. All six of the DJ's will fight for the crowd's favour, each with a 15-minute set that must contain three different musical genres, without using any mixing programmes.
A panel of judges including Chris Edmond, Claudette Powell and Colin Hines will evaluate each performer on creativity, track selection, skills, stage presence, audience response, overall impression, credibility for the scene and, most important, party factor.
A platform to battle
The aim of this event is for the crowd to experience the highest level that this musical art form can be taken to. Recognising the importance of DJs to the entertainment industry, Red Bull created Thre3Style five years ago as a way to give highly skilled DJs a platform to battle, perform, gain fame and express themselves in a party atmosphere. Unlike other DJ battles that are based on more technical aspects, this is a creative and unique format that seeks to find the DJ who has best perfected the true art of how to rock the party.
Host Leftside is proud of the year in entertainment that Jamaica has had so far and wants to excite patrons about the future. "We have the pride of celebrating the year of our Independence, our great feats in London, and it will only get better as we send more Jamaicans on to the international stage. An event like Red Bull Thre3Style helps to tie in all that has developed in the entertainment industry, and I expect the crowd energy to be high, the DJs vibes to be at max, and I will ensure that the party rocks!" he said.
