Renowned bodybuilder and model Christopher Clarke heralded the start to the Miss Global International pageant at the Montego Bay Convention Centre last Saturday night.
Clarke, holding a large crystal-looking ball, wearing nothing more than his sexy gold trunks, opened for the 29 women who travelled from across the globe for the ninth annual event, organised by pageant ambassador Lachu Ramchandani.
Ramchandani had succeeded in bringing in a beauty contestant from as far as Nepal, India, convinced a Pakistani, who opted not to wear the sexy two-piece bikini, to enter the competition and had a Myanmar (formerly Burma) woman strutting her stuff onstage.
The women, including Miss Jamaica Clover Groves, had one intention in mind: gaining exposure and experience, and, of course, winning the Miss Global International title for 2012.
But one winner stood out. Amanda Lillian of Liverpool,
England. Wearing the sash Miss England, many will tell you she outshone
the typical English female.
Lillian not only wowed
the audience to a frenzy, but bowled over the judges during the
prejudging. The 22-year-old cemented the deal on coronation
night.
In an interview with Outlook
last Sunday at host hotel, Riu Montego Bay, Lillian spoke about the
impact the trip to Jamaica had on her.
"I will never
forget the three men and two ladies in the restaurant at Riu Montego Bay
who befriended me while here. They all purchased tickets and came to
support me yesterday (Saturday) because we became great friends. They
are special people, who I will never forget. I can't wait to come
back."
Lillian and the other 28 contestants were
hosted to cocktails at the resort on arrival in Jamaica, and spent most
of their time in the country basking at the seaside
hotel.
Last Saturday night, Miss England shared the
spotlight with first runner-up, Miss Puerto Rico, Giovanna Lopez, and
second runner-up, Miss Jamaica, Clover
Groves.
