Dine and lyme with friends
The robust flavours of the Caribbean will be experienced by food lovers at the recently opened Robbie's Kitchen in Montego Bay during Restaurant Week from November 9-17.
From their crispy mozzarella spring roll sticks with marinara sauce, creamy Caribbean conch chowder to the breast of chicken Montego stuffed with ham, Swiss and spinach topped with cherry tomatoes, basil lemon garlic butter sauce, Robbie's Kitchen has created quite a stir in the Second City, and chef Robert Joseph is at the helm of it all.
"Robbie's Kitchen is the next best place to dine, lyme with friends or just have a drink. We at Half Moon Shopping Village are opened to everyone who is looking for somewhere interesting to go this Restaurant Week and any other day," noted chef Joseph.
The favourite item on the menu is the boneless goat meat curried and simmered in traditional curry sauce with mango chutney.
"Jamaicans love curried goat and what we have added is a bit of definition and give it a lot of flavour that has made it very popular on our menu," the chef added.
Prior to this new Robbie's Kitchen venture, Joseph successfully built a credible reputation of culinary excellence with his Seahorse Grill, located on the same property as the Montego Bay Yacht Club.
The contrast of intimacy and openness of the new restaurant's location adds a welcome change to the dining experience in Montego Bay. This, he said, piqued his interest about this particular location.
"Something else that is going to be a real treat for persons come Restaurant Week is our fried banana wontons made of ripe banana wrapped in wonton, deep fried, sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar and caramel sauce. So I encourage persons to participate and visit our restaurant, as it is something that you will not forget," chef Joseph pointed out.
