Whitebones with the Abrahamses
An excellent dining experience is usually the result of a delicious meal, a unique ambience and great company. With Restaurant Week Ambassadors Dr Michael Abrahams and his wife, Gail, as guests, the seafood fare at Whitebones on Mannings Hill Road proved to be a wonderful affair.
The experience was a unique one that started from the moment they drove in. They were impressed by 'Tall Man', who was courteous and offered them superb valet parking, something that they have never experienced before recalls Dr Abrahams.
"The ambience is fabulous," he commented.
Their meals for the night comprised two different soups for appetiser - fish and crab - and their main course was roasted fish and steamed fish.
"You know, I've never had crab soup before," Dr Abrahams chimed in, "but it tasted really good, seeing that I'm not really into seafood. I tend to go to restaurants and order the same things over and over again, much to her distress," he laughed as he beamed at Gail.
However, having stepped out of his comfort zone at Whitebones, he emphasised that he would visit the restaurant again since he knows that fish is really good for him and he is willing to make a change in his lifestyle.
According to Gail, "Eating out isn't just about the food. It's also about the service and the environment, and I must say that the service was impeccable."
She continued: "The food was just right. It was tasty, it wasn't salty, it wasn't overdone, but very delicious."
The Abrahamses noted that their waiter, Scott, was always pleasant and very efficient.
"Some places that you go to, the people that work there don't care, but Scott is always asking us if we were comfortable and if the food was good and that makes a big difference," stated Dr Abrahams.
On to arguably the best part of the meal for them - dessert. Michael had the strawberry cheesecake and Gail chose the bread pudding. The taste of rum wasn't the only thing that appealed to Gail, who is a bread-pudding lover, unlike her husband, who has a love affair with strawberry cheesecake.
What they loved most: the ambience, the food, Tall Man, the waiter, the decor and the desserts.
