A taste of the Mediterranean

Published:Thursday | October 18, 2012 | 12:00 AM

For eight years the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week has been about exploring various flavours. Well, continuing in that vein, this year, send your taste buds on a journey to the Mediterranean at Chez Maria.

Located on Hillcrest Avenue, the Lebanese eatery has created some combos specifically for this, their second year in the Nyam and Scam category. A great way to get a taste for the flavours, you can sample some traditional Lebanese fare.

Try a fattoush - a salad made from toasted pieces of pita bread combined with mixed greens and other vegetables. Or bite into a beef kebab, beef sambousik or a calaloo patty and dip into some hummos or baba ghanouj. The fresh vibrant flavours appeal to those who may not have an adventurous palate.

Each combo includes a tip, a salad, two kibbeh, and pita bread, and is a great satisfying meal that turns into an experience you've never had before. So get your passports ready and send your taste buds on a trip to the Mediterranean.
