Troye Riley shakes off accident
Brown's Town's motor racing hero Troye Riley miraculously escaped unhurt from an accident at the Dover Raceway, St Ann, on National Heroes Day.
Fans were shaken when Riley's Honda CRX rolled, following an incident while negotiating the chicane. There were smiles of relief when Riley crawled out of the overturned vehicle.
"It is not something I want to comment on. All I will say is that I will be back and they are going to tired to see my face," commented Riley, who obviously was upset about something but reluctant to speak about it.
Fellow race driver Tedroy Burton, along with a group of marshals who came to Riley's rescue, put the vehicle back on its wheels and it was later removed from the track.
A smiling Riley said he was not shaken up by the accident. This was evident by the broad grin he displayed while sitting in the back of an ambulance, being attended to by medical officials.
The St Ann resident stressed that since his debut two years ago he has been very competitive, especially in the Bracket 38 Class. With the 2012 season now behind him, Riley is looking forward to greater things next year.
His father Herbert Riley, who competed with popular race car 'The Bomb' at drag racing at Vernamfield, Clarendon, in the latter 1960s, has been one of Troye's supporters, offering driving and strategic tips.
