October is the month that Breast Cancer Awareness is highlighted reminding women all across the world the importance of screening tests in detecting cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage. Joining with Yoplait to drive the message home is Miss Universe Jamaica 2012, Chantal Zaky. The beauty queen shares with Outlook how she feels about her new role.

"I am happy to use the platform to stress the importance of breast cancer advocacy," she continued. "I think it's important to educate and motivate the next generation and getting the youth to be involved in the art of advocacy and public health issues related to oncology which is paramount to making us better informed and empowered to be part of a movement for continued oncology research," she ended

No one person, community, or effort is alone in the fight against breast cancer. For the past five years, Yoplait has supported the fight against the dreaded disease, giving $2.5 million to the Jamaica Cancer Society through the Save Lids to Save Lives programme. This year, Yoplait and Wisynco have joined forces through this programme to give support to the Jamaica Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer. This year under the theme, 'So Good to Help so Close to Home', Wisynco has committed to donate $8 for every 6oz tub of Yoplait yogurt sold from October 1 to November 10 to the Jamaica Cancer Society's efforts in increasing awareness of the disease, providing screening for early detection and other support programmes. A minimum donation of $500,000 is guaranteed.

To garner even more support for the cause, Yoplait has on board international recording artiste Cherine Anderson as the campaign spokesperson and a number of other celebrity ambassadors. These ambassadors have committed to the cause by using their status to spread the word and encourage others to join fight against the disease.
