Total domination
Summerbell team members top categories
The recently concluded circuit motor-racing season in Jamaica has witnessed what young hotshot André Anderson described as total domination as the three members of the Total Summerbell team, launched earlier this year, won the three Modified Production (MP) classes that they competed in.
"It's been a really good season as the new team, Team Summerbell, that includes André Anderson and Kyle Gregg, has been an extreme success. Among the three of us, we won the three MP classes that we competed in, which are the MP2, MP3 and MP4. Kyle even went on and won the Thundersport One class. He also set a new front-wheel-drive track record, and I have a new overall track record," Summerbell told Automotives.
"I don't expect less from the team next year. There will be continued positives and leading the way into new areas that I'm sure others will want to follow," he added.
Anderson is left feeling satisfied, as his goal of winning the MP3 championship was achieved.
"At the beginning of the year, we had set that mark and we got it, so I'm really happy. There were ups and downs, because we had some flawless meets while at some meets, we had mechanical problems, but towards the end we managed to win the MP3 championship. I am already planning for bigger things next year as I look to improve the car and defend that title," he told Automotives.
welcome competition
Gregg, while saying how elated he was to be part of a winning team, and also highlighted the most difficult part of the year but one which he also enjoyed - the competition he faced from Alan Chen throughout the season.
"We managed to defend the Modified Production class two and the Thundersport championship, which was the main goal. Last year, we were in the 26-second range. Now, we are doing 23, so that's three seconds faster. Breaking the track record was very astonishing. I never expected to do that time. Overall, it's been a very good year and I had some very stiff competition," Gregg said.
"The most difficult part was Alan Chen, my main rival for the year. At no point in time was it easy to beat him. He acquired his car last year and if this is what he has done with it, I can only imagine what he's going to do next year."
