Tyra's 'Saintly' Men

It's Friday night, two days post-Sandy. Many Jamaicans huddled around their television sets, at home or elsewhere, to watch Jamaica's resplendent beauty pose as a backdrop for the internationally popular America's Next Top Model series created and hosted by former Victoria Secrets supermodel turned TV producer Tyra Banks. Indeed, a welcome distraction for those who had electricity.

While the show's central characters are the remaining six female contenders vying for the top spot, Jamaicans were pleasantly surprised and excited to see spotlight turned on three hunky male models, hand-picked by Banks herself, from Saint International Modelling Agency.

Deiwght Peters, CEO of Saint, told Outlook how it all came together.

"I was contacted by the America's Next Top Model producers who expressed a desire to find great male models for featured roles and also designers for various segments. I made several recommendations - photographers, designers, make-up artist, etc. A high-level team of the show's international producers were also guests of ours at FASHIONBLOCK 2012," Peters revealed.

In a surprising coincidence, Peters revealed that all three models are winners of Saint's Fashion Face of the Caribbean competition. Shavan Fraser was the winner of 2010, Korey Rowe for 2011 and Sean Thompson in 2012.

Korey is completing his degree at the University of the West Indies. Shavan and Sean just completed high school (Kingston College and Ocho Rios, respectively) and are now in the developmental phase of their international modelling careers.

What was it loke shooting for the show?

It was very exciting! The crew was massive but well organised and extremely professional.

What was it like meeting Tyra?

I
have always admired Tyra Banks and all she has achieved (a lot) in and
outside of the fashion industry, and the opportunity she has afforded
aspiring models. Meeting her on the set gave me a chance to see how
genuine and comfortable she is in her own skin. Truly a gem in the world
of fashion!

How much did learn from shooting for the show?

I've learnt many things from doing the America's Next Top Model shoot and I am gratetful for it.

What was it like meeting Tyra?

Tyra Banks is so charming and beautiful! She is easy-going and outright fun! I'm very fond of her.

What was it like shooting for the show?

It was an amazing feeling to get the opportunity to be featured on the show and one that I'll never forget. I loved to see the behind-the-scenes action that brings it all together.

What was it like meeting Tyra?

It was an honour meeting Tyra Banks! Watching her show on television and finally getting the chance to meet her in person is a wish come true.
