SKOPJE (AP) :

Macedonian authorities have seized more than half-a-ton of marijuana in a truck at a border crossing with Albania and arrested the driver.

Police said yesterday the 540 kilograms (1,200 pounds) of the drug had an estimated market value of €3 million (US$3.9 million).

Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska described Monday's seizure as the largest single batch of marijuana ever confiscated in Macedonia. According to police, the drug had been produced in Albania and was to have been smuggled into western Europe.
