Last Sunday's CVM 'Naked Truth' welcomed special guest Claire Shipman, senior national correspondent for 'Good Morning America', to the hot seat.

Shipman is the wife of Jay Carney, White House press secretary for United States President Barack Obama.

'Naked Truth', Jamaica's newest TV talk show now nearing the end of its first season, is hosted by businesswoman-turned-politician Paula Kerr-Jarrett, actress Terri Salmon, sexologist and Star columnist Shelly-Ann Weeks and The Gleaner's public affairs editor, Barbara Ellington.

Claire fielded questions regarding her book, Womenomics, which she co-authored with BBC journalist and friend, Katty Kay.

A blueprint for career-driven women and mothers, the book offers strategies on how to work less and live more. It gets to the heart of what many professional women around the world desire to achieve.

"It is possible to work in the way women want to work," Shipman said.

Shipman advised professional mothers not to agonise unnecessarily about missing seemingly important occasions in their children's lives (such as a Halloween party for four-year-olds), as chances are the children forget that as the years go by. She said there were more significant things to focus on.

A journalist for more than 30 years, Shipman expressed her disappointment in no longer being able to cover politics because of her husband's appointment as press secretary in 2011.

"It's hard when you have to give up something, not because you want to, but because you are asked to," she said.

Shipman's career began as a foreign correspondent for CNN, reporting from Russia during the collapse of the Soviet Union, for which she received a Peabody Award. She has also worked as White House correspondent for NBC.

Since hitting the airwaves more than six weeks ago, CVM's 'Naked Truth' has also featured National Commercial Bank's chairman, Michael Lee-Chin; filmmaker Storm Saulter, broadcaster Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small and party promoter Phillip 'PP' Palmer. Tomorrow's guest is hotel and music mogul Jon Baker.

The show airs Sundays at 7 p.m. with a repeat on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
