Not satisfied with challenges of a regular nine-to-five job, 28-year-old David Brown, buoyed by the realisation that he has a penchant for life in the fast lane, albeit wanting to become an entrepreneur, is now exploring his passion.

The ambitious Brown has decided to throw his creativity behind Speed Factor, the performance shop he has established to satisfy the needs of persons seeking to add more speed to their vehicles. After just a few months, he is already experiencing a feeling of fulfilment.

"Speed Factor is a niche market for people who want to express their personality and emotional content in their vehicle," said Brown. "It caters to the people who see their vehicle as their ultimate means of expression.

"A regular auto-parts shop will provide body panel, break shoes, and the like," continued Brown, whose shop is located on Perry Street in downtown Montego Bay. "Speed Factor provides that 'X' factor for persons who want to deviate from the norm and who want their car to reflect their charisma."

Brown's love affair with speed in the automotive business began to take shape at age 16 when he felt the need to do something tangible about his passion for cars.

FUELLING PASSION

"From the age of 16, I discovered I had a passion for cars and racing, like my father," said Campbell, whose father is in the drag-racing business. "Ever since I got my driving permit, I was always behind his wheels. From drag-racing with performance-enhanced vehicles to working on them, I really love it."

Since opening the door to Speed Factor on December 2012, Brown has been getting tremendous support, which he finds most encouraging, especially when clients interact with him and observe that his vast knowledge of cars overshadows his age.
