Funky Town!

Dancing 'drag' queens, bare-chested men, high Afros, beautiful people and disco music from the Bee Gees transformed the elegant Round Hill Hotel and Villas into 'Funky Town' last Saturday night.
Indisputably the best Hanover Charities 'Sugar Cane Ball' in several years, it was a night that saw Ball Chairman Manuela Goren and husband James basking in the success.
The entire team, headed by Katrin Casserly, had again brought out a full house of celebrities, including first-timers, Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen; the usual suspects, Ralph and Ricky Lauren and the young Vanessa Noel of Vanessa Noel Shoes.
Taking on the look of 'Studio 54', many donned the looks of the 1970s to early '80s - tight-fitting bell-foot pants, big 'fros, miniskirts, knee-high boots and some serious bling, portraying an era that will live on with the 'generation Xers' for years to come.
It was the energy of the music from DJ 'Ultragrrrl' that rocked, ensuring Saturday night became one of the most memorable for the party people.
Coupled with the music, the delicious fare prepared by executive chef Martin Maginley and his team stood out - satiating the taste buds of even the most discerning.
The organisers also put together an impressive silent auction which included a fabulous Belle Etoile set from Casa de Oro, Barrington Watson's print 'Nudes', golf at White Witch and Louisa Calio-Fray's photo 'Quiet Moment', among other exciting offerings.
Kudos to the Hanover Charities for a job well done and a smashing party!
