WESTERN BUREAU:It is Mureen James' infectious ear-to-ear smile that makes an indelible mark on almost everyone she meets.

Group sales director at the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Montego Bay, James, opened up her Westgate Hills home and turned her 45th birthday party into a jam session that had neighbours near and far captivated last Sunday.

With musical giant DJ 'Baby Thug' in charge of the music, her intimate group of friends and colleagues will remember the celebration for years to come.

Drawing on the expertise of the best in the business, James enhanced what was already a beautiful setting with decor from one of the country's top decorators, Tai Flora. She then called on renowned chef Keisha Barnes who is still celebrating her recent success on NBC's 'Today Show' for the food.

delectable dishes

Barnes' dishes were all about jerk. There were jerked chicken, pork, fish, festival, bammy, fried plantains and rice and peas. Of course, James' party would not have been complete without curried goat, so her housekeeper Millicent 'Miss Millicent' Little did wonders for the taste buds.

For the cake, chef Alicia Woodbine James created magic with a white chocolate passion gateau, accompanied by mini cheesecakes, mini-bread pudding and assorted cupcakes, while the young man who has made his name with the Pier One crowd musically transformed the home setting into Disco Inferno.

DJ Baby Thug was a hit, and was the most defining aspect of this soirée.

The party, which was scheduled to end at 8 p.m., went until 10 o'clock.

Happy birthday, Mureen!!!!
