South Beach seafood fiesta

Tucked away in the heart of the city, off Lady Musgrave road, is a little oasis called South Beach Café.
Every Tuesday, the café comes alive with seafood Tuesdays, which is known to be one of the staple events on the café's entertainment/foodie calendar. Equipped with all his fancy gadgets, and pots and pans, chef Jason Gentles prepares some of the best seafood spreads in the island for patrons who are looking for delicious crustaceans.
A HEART chef for nine years, Gentles has worked inside the kitchens of some of the top restaurants in the island; Raffaele's Gourmet Pizzeria, Usain Bolt's Tracks and Records and Sandals Royal Caribbean. Gentles tells Food that even though Italian is his favourite cuisine to prepare, he's still a well-rounded chef who just loves to cook and make people happy.
It has been just two months since he started at South Beach, but it is an experience that has been very exciting for him. "I get to interact with customers - seeing that I'm out on the front cooking - and I get to enjoy seeing their faces when they either receive their meals or when they have reached the end of their meal," he explained.

According to marketing manager Lauren Dunn, "All items are prepared fresh from the sea.
"Usually people have to go to either Hellshire or Port Royal to get a good seafood dish, but we have some of the best here at South Beach with our friendly well-trained staff and fine outdoor dining." She continued, "There aren't a lot of options available in Kingston after certain hours, but we open after nine, so people can feel free to come for a late dinner," she said.
Starting at 6 p.m. every Tuesday, Seafood Tuesdays is a family event that has more to offer than just dining - it's an experience where persons can enjoy their choice of shrimp, conch, lobster, crab or fish.
