10 things you didn't know about Heston Hutton
Heston Hutton is a seasoned business development professional with nearly 25 years' experience in the financial sector. He has a track record of stellar performance and innovation, with specialised knowledge in retail and electronic banking and card operations.
A strategic-planning expert, specialising in organisational optimisation, he has facilitated and spearheaded a renewal of business philosophy and application with a view to maximising and expanding opportunities on a number of continents.
Hutton is driven by the mantra that information technology is the new key/engine to power and drive, increased productivity, competitiveness and profitability. He is also of the view that the foundation to individual success is a solid educational background. In this regard, he gives generously of his time to a number of educational institutions and is a serving member of Kiwanis International.
Today, Outlook shares 10 things we did not know about financial and business consultant Heston Hutton.
1. Born in Kingston, Hutton attended Vaz Preparatory School with Bob Marley's children - Ziggy, Cedella and Stephen - before he moved to Calabar High School.
2. After graduating from Calabar High School, he worked at National Commercial Bank with the likes of Don Banks, Dunbar McFarlane and Rex James.
3. He is an art lover and avid collector who owns works from some of Jamaica's finest artists. He is also a nature and animal lover who owns several dogs, exotic fish and birds.
4.He is a self-confessed homebody who enjoys spending time with his family and friends in a quiet setting. He is always ready for a good party and loves to dance.
5. Considered a financial whiz, he is equally at home in the kitchen and considers himself an amateur chef who prepares a 'wicked' Christmas ham. He is not shy about trying out new recipes which he looks forward to showing off at family socials.
6.He considers himself a regular guy, but his list of several firsts and pioneering efforts says otherwise. His list of accomplishments includes developing Jamaica's first stored value card as well as the deployments of mobile and drive-thru points of sales while at NCB. He also established the company's enterprise project management office and methodologies.
7. Was recruited by Anne Shirley as a business specialist for CIBC Jamaica. Within the first year at the company, he was selected to head the bank's problem and change management operations for the Caribbean.
8. Has been married for 11 years to Tashia and they have three beautiful daughters ages 12, 10 and 6. In fact, Heston is happy to be the only man in the house!
9. Is proud to say he is a 'Mama's boy', being the last of five children. He speaks with his mother almost every day.
10. Had the honour of being one of the youngest justices of the peace. He was appointed in 1990 and continues to actively serve his community. Committed to the Catholic faith, he also sits on the boards of Immaculate Conception Preparatory School and St Joseph's Teachers' College.
