It isn't every day that you come across a Caribbean artistic genius poised to take over the fashion scene. Since 2003, The House of D'Marsh, under the leadership of Creative Director Glenroy March, has crystallised his creative impulses into a synergistic blend of structure and design manifested in its couture and ready-to-wear collections. Fast-track to 2013, where his creative genius is epitomised in his artist's ability to present beauty in new and interesting ways.

Jamaica-born New York-based March honed his design skills at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts costume department. He later worked for top Caribbean fashion house, Uzuri International, as an assistant designer.

At the tender age of 21, March represented Jamaica at the internationally renowned fashion competition, 'Total Look Award' in Toronto, Canada, where he made a name for himself. Of course, this was just the beginning. With the formation of The House of D'Marsh, March looks to marry sophistication with fashion-forward sensibility. According to the designer, "You have to find that delicate balance between expanding the taste and sophistication of your audience, while staying in the realm of what they are comfortable with."

the journey

D'Marsh's fashion-design journey began on the 'rock' as a multifaceted fashion house that caters to its clients every style need by enhancing their vision. March showcased his first collection at the 2003 staging of Caribbean Fashionweek, and it was while working on his first collection that he discovered the signature colours for the company that is now present in every collection. Just imagine the passion of red, the elegance of black and the purity of white. These colours embody the essence of the D'Marsh collections. In the spring of 2010, The House of D'Marsh officially launched its first men's collection in New York City. Ever since, the company has consistently presented two collections per year. Talk about fashion forward!

With March's creative insight, he has expanded the team behind the brand, and the company has channelled its focus into other facets of the fashion world. They have moved away from solely fashion designing to incorporating five divisions under The House of D'Marsh- D'Marsh Couture, D'M by D'Marsh (catering to both male and female), Style by D'Marsh (styling), D'Marsh Model Management and D'Marsh Runway School. With the tag line, 'catchy, contagious and leaves a lasting impression', one can't help but note that the Caribbean-inspired The House of D'Marsh is on the brink of a fashion renaissance.

As the company continues to grow and succeed, they have landed editorial spreads in a number of publications across the globe. Naturally, The Gleaner is included with others in the fray such as Glamour, Canada Life, Charlotte Life, Jamrock, Buzz Magazine, New York Times and The Examiner.
