WESTERN BUREAU:IT FELT like déjà vu. However, the American Airlines (AA) staff at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay were willing to have what they have tagged a recurring dream come true.

For the third time, the team has won the airline's coveted Customer Cup! The award recognises employees for providing excellent customer service at the airport. Sangster's counterparts at the Norman Manley International Airport, Kingston, have won in the past.

Last Thursday night, they were honoured and fêted by the airline, which had in attendance two of its senior vice-presidents, Jon Snook and Art Torno. The staff were treated to dinner at the Coyaba Beach Resort in the tourism capital.

Snook and Torno presented the outstanding team and their boss, Yvonne Pearson, country manager, with the Cup.

"For as long as there is a Customer Cup programme, we want Customer Cups in Jamaica," declared Pearson, adding that, on the first occasion, they wished for one more, "and here we are number four for Jamaica and number three for Montego Bay."

Grateful to their customers for rating them so highly, the AA crew celebrated the award with pride while enjoying the tasty feast created in their honour by the Coyaba's chefs.

At the close of a fantastic evening, the team cut their triumph cake and sipped red wine.

Other American Airlines executives who travelled from overseas for the occasion included Martha Pantin, director of corporate communications, and Mike G. Smith, manager, customer experience.
