Celebrated and decorated Olympian Michael Frater rarely makes the news except when he's on the track, adding to his personal medal haul, or helping Jamaica's 4x1 relay team to another international medal, be it at the World Championship Games or the Olympics.

In recent times, however, he had a public parting of the ways with his former coach and track club. Considered a gentleman on and off the track and one of impeccable character, the public separation has left many embittered towards the former coach and with a wellspring of support for the athletic star considered by many as the backbone of Jamaica's 4x1 relay team.

As he approaches the twilight of his long and distinguished career and readies himself for his next career as an entrepreneur, Outlook shares 10 things previously not known about the well-respected and admired track-and-field star, Michael Frater.

6. Frater grew up on a farm and has acquired one of his own, and is currently concentrating on transitioning to becoming a farmer, to supply hotels and restaurants with local produce, fruits, and vegetables. He not only relishes the prospect of doing this as a way of giving back by helping to provide employment for others, but finds farming quite therapeutic. He says it's an amazing feeling seeing the plants and animals flourish.

7. He is an avid video-game player who lists Bad Boys as his all-time favourite movie. Rihanna is his favourite artiste because of her singing ability, sense of fashion and her sex appeal.

8. Frater does not enjoy cooking, but does so on the odd Sunday, when he prepares his favourite meal - oxtail and rice and peas.

9. He enjoys singing and dancing, but only does it in his bathroom.

10. He says most girls think of him as being very quiet and reserved, but Frater says he has a very wild side. "It just takes the right person to bring it out. And I not only have a well-developed physique, I am also well-developed mentally, and graduated in the top two per cent of my class with a bachelor's in political science.
