Dalila has strengthened into a hurricane as it moves away from Mexico's Pacific coast and is expected to weaken again.

The storm yesterday had maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph). The storm is centred about 190 miles (306 kilometres) west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is inching toward the west-northwest.

The government of Mexico has issued no storm warnings or watches for the coast.

Dalilia was expected to bring winds and rain accumulations of one to three inches to the country's coastline.

The biggest danger is heavy surf and rip currents.
