Colin Campbell needs his tough hide
If no more, Colin Campbell, the People's National Party (PNP) politician, has one redeeming quality: an impervious hide. The rhinoceros might have borrowed his.
So Mr Campbell can be expected to plunge into his new job as CEO of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) oblivious to criticisms of his suitability or worthiness for the post.
Colin Campbell, of course, comes to the post with much baggage, including his involvement in the Trafigura scandal that cost him his general secretary post in the PNP and a place in the Cabinet.
He has no experience in managing a major enterprise or expertise in logistics. His experience in public transportation is limited to his stint as junior minister in the ministry that oversaw the portfolio when public transport was a nasty mess - far worse than now.
Perhaps he qualifies by a lack of obviously substantial engagement in the years since he has been out of government.
